White Mountain Goat Climbing Cliff Side — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Colorado, USA, in 1973, showing a white mountain goat clinging to a steep, rocky cliff face. The goat, a mammal with thick fur, is seen carefully navigating the rugged terrain, its white body contrasting against the dark, layered rock. The scene is bathed in a distinct purple hue, likely due to film stock aging or lighting conditions, with natural light illuminating the cliff's texture. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s Colorado 8mm wildlife footage suited for documentary inserts about mountain habitats, alpine animals, outdoor recreation, or home-movie views of the American West.
Period detail: The visible period detail comes mainly from the 8mm home-movie format, purple color shift, soft exposure, and handheld framing rather than from datable objects in the scene.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has the observational feel of a visitor pausing to film a distant wild animal moving across a cliff face from below or across a canyon.
What appears in frame: The frames show a white mountain goat on steep layered rock, dark evergreen trees near the cliff edge, bright sky or overexposed canyon light, vertical film gate borders, and a purple-blue cast across the stone.
Film character: The footage carries visible 8mm grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, slight handheld instability, and aged color shift that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief wildlife cutaway, alpine landscape insert, or quiet memory beat within a sequence about Colorado mountains or 1970s outdoor travel.
Historical context: The scene documents a home-movie encounter with wildlife in a rugged mountain setting, without visible people, buildings, vehicles, signage, or other social markers in the sampled frames.
Research note: No people, logos, brands, or private property are visible in the sampled frames, but copyright, archive licensing, and any location or wildlife-use restrictions should still be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1973 Colorado 8mm mountain goat, vintage home movie cliff wildlife, white goat on rocky mountain slope, and 1970s alpine animal footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other Colorado 1973 mountain scenes, then related 1970s 8mm wildlife, cliffs, parks, and alpine landscape material.
