Frozen Waterfall With Red Lanterns At Night — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Colorado, USA, in 1973, capturing a dramatic frozen waterfall cascading over rocky cliffs at night. The scene is bathed in a striking blue-purple hue, with thick ice formations and snow-covered banks creating a surreal, cold atmosphere. A wooden structure with red lanterns hangs above the icy cascade, adding a touch of warmth against the dark, shadowy canyon. The film exhibits natural grain and slight color distortion typical of 8mm archival footage, evoking a nostalgic, cinematic feel of a winter night in the mountains.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This 1973 Colorado 8mm clip fits archival requests for winter mountain atmosphere, nighttime ice formations, or brief cold-weather cutaways in documentary and period productions.
Period detail: The saturated blue-purple night exposure, red lantern-like accents, and 8mm color rendering may show a visitor-filmed scenic stop or illuminated outdoor attraction from the early 1970s.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has the value of a visitor-shot home movie, holding on the frozen cascade from a fixed viewpoint rather than staging action for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a frozen waterfall, thick ice and snow banks, dark rocky cliff walls, a small wooden structure, red hanging lights, and deep shadow around the canyon.
Film character: The clip carries a physical 8mm texture with visible grain, dense night exposure, color shift toward blue and purple, and slight frame variation across the short shot.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a winter insert, a nocturnal transition, a memory beat, or a cold-weather establishing cutaway within a 1970s sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects how home-movie photographers documented illuminated scenic landscapes and winter travel views without providing enough visual evidence to identify a specific landmark.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or audible music are indicated, but copyright and any location or property considerations should still be reviewed separately before use.
Research search match: Relevant searches might include 1973 Colorado 8mm frozen waterfall at night, vintage home movie ice cascade, blue night snow canyon footage, or red lantern winter attraction.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then with other 1973 Colorado travel material, and then with broader vintage winter landscape or nighttime mountain scenes.
