Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for 1960s U.S. archive requests needing visitor-shot footage of a trained dolphin show or zoo-style aquatic entertainment for documentary, education, or period montage use.

Period detail

The 8mm color footage may show a mid-1960s public animal performance setting, with a pool enclosure, show signage, a red floating buoy, and a trainer-like figure visible near the water.

Home-movie behavior

The clip carries the value of a visitor filming from behind dark enclosure framing as the dolphin splashes close to the pool edge during a brief performance moment.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a dolphin breaking the water, large splash plumes, a red buoy, pool barriers, painted show signs, a trainer or staff figure, wet decking, and dark film-gate edges.

Film character

The footage has a home-movie 8mm texture with soft focus, visible grain, slight color fading, handheld framing, and dark vertical borders from the scanned film image.

Edit role

An editor could use this as a brief insert, transition, or memory beat to evoke mid-century family outings, animal shows, or public zoo entertainment.

Historical context

The scene reflects the visual culture of public dolphin performances as captured by visitors, while the frames alone do not identify the specific venue or organization.

Research note

Human figures and signage or brand-like graphics are visible, so copyright, likeness, and trademark or venue identification issues should be reviewed separately before publication.
