New Jersey USA-1966: Female Handler Gives A Treat To A Baby Elephant

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Supports 1960s documentary or educational requests for zoo animal care footage showing a female handler interacting with a young elephant in a New Jersey enclosure.

Period detail

The clothing, 8mm color stock, simple zoo enclosure materials, and 1966 metadata place the scene in a mid-1960s home-movie context.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has an unstaged visitor-shot perspective, observing the handler and baby elephant from outside or behind enclosure barriers as the animal approaches for a treat.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a young elephant, a female handler in a light blue shirt and white pants, hay bedding, a wooden post, concrete ground, a curved fence, enclosure walls, and dark film-edge borders.

Film character

The footage has soft 8mm grain, muted color, slight exposure variation, handheld framing, and visible frame edges that signal original home-movie film texture.

Edit role

An editor could use this as a brief insert, cutaway, or memory beat for zoo visits, animal handling, captive wildlife care, or mid-century family travel footage.

Historical context

The scene visually documents a public-facing zoo or animal enclosure setting where close handler contact with a young elephant was presented to visitors.

Research note

People are visible and likeness review may be needed, while copyright, location permissions, and animal facility context should be assessed separately from the absence of visible logos.
