People Lounging By A Pool Under A Portico — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Palermo, Italy, in 1967 captures a sun-drenched poolside scene under a grand portico with white columns and arched openings. Several people in retro swimwear lounge on yellow and blue deck chairs, soaking up the sun. A man in trunks stands near the pool edge, while others rest or adjust their towels. The film exhibits classic Super 8 grain, faded colors, and a slightly soft focus, evoking a nostalgic, mid-century leisure moment. The setting features a concrete pool deck, a small patch of grass, and a calm, relaxed atmosphere perfect for archival or editorial use.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This 1967 Palermo 8mm poolside clip helps document mid-century leisure travel, resort architecture, and sunbathing scenes for documentary, museum, education, or editorial productions.
Period detail: Visible period clues include bright deck chairs, simple swim trunks and swimsuits, a white-columned portico with arched openings, and the soft color response of amateur 1960s film.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has an unstaged home-movie quality, observing people resting, sitting, standing, and adjusting themselves around the pool rather than performing for the camera.
What appears in frame: The frames show a swimming pool edge, white columns, arched portico openings, yellow and blue lounge chairs, sunbathers in swimwear, a small grass strip, towels, and strong daylight.
Film character: The scan carries 8mm home-movie texture with visible grain, faded blues and yellows, slight softness, gate edges, and minor exposure shifts across the contact-sheet frames.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, memory beat, leisure cutaway, or transition between travel, vacation, architecture, or 1960s social-life material.
Historical context: The scene visually reflects outdoor leisure and poolside relaxation in Palermo during the 1960s without establishing a named hotel, event, or identifiable landmark.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed, while no logos or audible music are indicated and copyright, likeness, and property questions should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1967 Palermo poolside home movie, 1960s Italy resort swimming pool, 8mm sunbathers under portico, and vintage Italian leisure footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then with other Palermo or Italy 1967 travel scenes, and then with broader 1960s pool, vacation, resort, or Mediterranean leisure material.
