Person Shoveling Snow in Winter Yard — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from St. Paul, Minnesota, 1962, showing a person in a dark hooded winter coat shoveling deep snow in a residential yard. The scene is bathed in a distinctive purple-blue tint, characteristic of aged film stock, with heavy snowdrifts piled high against a house. Bare tree branches frame the window, and the grainy, low-light quality captures a quiet, nostalgic winter day. The person moves methodically, clearing a path through the snow, evoking a sense of everyday life in a cold northern climate.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for requests needing 1960s 8mm home-movie winter life in the Upper Midwest, especially documentary inserts about household routines, snow removal, or cold-weather residential scenes.
Period detail: The dark hooded coat, deep piled snow, residential window, and handheld 8mm color footage support a mid-20th-century home-movie reading, with the 1962 St. Paul setting supplied by clip metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged everyday action as a bundled figure methodically shovels snow near a house rather than posing for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a dark hooded figure, snow shovel, high snowbanks, a house wall, basement-level windows, bare branches, and strong blue-purple winter shadows.
Film character: The footage has dense 8mm grain, soft focus, low winter exposure, slight handheld framing, and a purple-blue color cast consistent with aged home-movie film stock.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief winter cutaway, household labor insert, seasonal transition, or memory beat within a northern U.S. home-life sequence.
Historical context: The scene documents ordinary residential snow removal in a cold-climate neighborhood, emphasizing domestic maintenance and winter conditions rather than a public event.
Research note: A person is visible but not facially identifiable in these frames, and copyright, likeness, and any property-context questions should be reviewed separately before publication.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1962 St. Paul snow shoveling, vintage 8mm winter yard, Minnesota home movie snow, hooded person shoveling, and 1960s residential winter footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then with St. Paul or Minnesota 1962 material, then with broader 1960s home-movie winter and snow-removal scenes.
