A Passing Glance at a Brick Building with a Nameplate — Clip Details

A dark, grainy 8mm home movie from 1956 captures a fleeting view of a brick building in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. The footage, shot at night or in low light, shows the textured facade with several windows, including one with an arched top. The camera moves slightly, offering a passing glance at the structure before focusing on a nameplate reading 'DOCIA M. HATFIELD' in the final frame. The image is characterized by heavy film grain, a greenish tint, and a vintage, nostalgic quality typical of mid-century home movies.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s 8mm home-movie footage for productions needing a brief low-light cutaway of a brick building or named exterior detail in Hatfield, Pennsylvania.
Period detail: The footage may show mid-century exterior architecture through arched and rectangular window shapes, brick masonry, pale trim, and a visible nameplate reading DOCIA M. HATFIELD.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has the value of a passing handheld glance, suggesting a visitor or family camera briefly registering a place rather than staging an architectural record.
What appears in frame: Visible details include dark brickwork, arched windows, rectangular window openings, pale trim, tree or shrub shadows, and a partial white nameplate on the facade.
Film character: Heavy grain, greenish low-light exposure, soft focus, and slight handheld movement give the scan a distinctly physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a moody insert, location transition, memory beat, or brief establishing cutaway before or after clearer Hatfield-area footage.
Historical context: The scene records an exterior building detail in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, without enough visual evidence to identify the structure beyond the visible nameplate and architectural features.
Research note: No people are visible, but the readable nameplate and exterior building detail should be reviewed for identification, trademark, copyright, property, and contextual use considerations.
Research search match: Researchers might search for 1956 8mm Hatfield Pennsylvania building exterior, brick building nameplate, dark home movie architecture, or DOCIA M. HATFIELD sign footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with other 1956 Hatfield, Pennsylvania material, and then with mid-century building exterior or small-town architecture footage.
