Lamp Turns Off Then Holiday Gifts and Drum — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Phoenix, Arizona, 1956, capturing a dimly lit domestic interior. The clip opens on a glowing lamp with a pleated shade on a table, its light illuminating a person in dark clothing. The scene transitions to complete darkness, with faint blue and white specks visible in the black frames, suggesting a camera lens cap or film damage. The final frame reveals a colorful, patterned drum and wrapped gifts on a purple carpet, indicating a festive holiday setting. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color shifts, and natural film imperfections, offering authentic archival material for nostalgic or historical projects.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This 1950s Phoenix home-movie clip can support documentary or museum edits needing a brief domestic holiday interior with low-light household atmosphere.
Period detail: The footage may show mid-century home furnishings and holiday objects, with a lamp, wrapped gifts, carpet, and a small drum visible in the supplied metadata and frames.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries unstaged home-movie value through its abrupt exposure changes, darkness, and casual attention to household objects rather than a composed scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a dark interior, a lit table lamp described in the metadata, black or near-black frames with film specks, a patterned drum, wrapped presents, and carpeted flooring.
Film character: The scan has heavy underexposure, visible film grain, color shift, and brief near-black frames that read as physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short transition, memory beat, or cutaway between brighter holiday scenes from the same reel.
Historical context: As a private domestic interior from Phoenix in 1956, the clip offers modest visual context for household holiday display rather than public civic or landmark history.
Research note: Rights review should account for private property and any briefly visible person, with separate consideration of copyright ownership, likeness, and property permissions.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1950s 8mm home movie holiday gifts, Phoenix Arizona domestic interior, lamp turning off home movie, and vintage drum Christmas presents.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent material from the same reel, then with other Phoenix 1956 home interiors, and finally with mid-century holiday gift or domestic cutaway footage.
