About 31,600 clips of children, one of the largest collections in the archive, peaking in the 1960s. Kids were the reason most of these cameras got bought, so they're in front of more of them than anyone else.
First steps and backyard games, birthday parties and school mornings, the whole slow business of growing up in front of a home camera. New York and California lead, almost all on standard 8mm and Super 8.

Footage of children suits family, education, and nostalgia campaigns, social-history documentaries, and period scenes that need real kids of the era rather than cast ones. The first-steps and backyard-play shots are among the most-pulled in the whole archive.
The 1950s kids are dressed up and supervised. The 1960s, the peak, run looser and more colorful. The 1970s give them more room and longer hair, filmed with a lighter touch.
